For Parents, Schools & Group Leaders
Everything you need to know about Teens at Chosen.
Chosen 2026 welcomes teens aged 16 and over through the dedicated Teens stream. This page is a quick-reference overview for parents, group leaders, schools and ministries bringing a teen group: how registration works, who's responsible for what, and how we approach safeguarding.
Minimum age
16+
Teens must be 16 years or older at the time of the conference.
Group-only attendance
No solo registrations
Teens don't register individually. They attend as part of an organised parish, school, youth group or Jesus Youth regional group, under an appointed Group Leader.
Leader-to-teen ratio
Minimum 1:10
Mixed-gender groups need at least one male and one female Group Leader. Two leaders are recommended regardless of group size.
Registration phase
How a teen actually gets registered.
Registrations aren't open to individual teens. Teens register through the standard registration link, the same one everyone else uses, as part of an organised parish, school, youth group or Jesus Youth regional group. Each group is appointed a Group Leader, who completes the registration and supervises the teens throughout the conference.
Group Leaders
Who can lead a group.
A Group Leader should ideally be a senior member of the organisation bringing the teens (parish, school, youth group or Jesus Youth regional leadership). Group Leaders must:
- Be 18 years or older.
- Hold a valid Working With Children Check (or state equivalent).
- Complete an online orientation before the conference.
Group Leaders receive 50% off their own registration cost.
Leader-to-teen ratio
- Minimum 1 Group Leader for every 10 teens.
- Mixed-gender groups (girls and boys) need at least one male and one female Group Leader.
- Recommended: two Group Leaders per group regardless of size or gender mix.
Responsibilities
- Maintain each teen's details: medical information, emergency contacts and parental consents.
- Supervise their assigned teens throughout the conference, including travel, accommodation and all conference activities.
- Be the main point of contact for both the teens and their parents/guardians.
- Ensure teens follow the conference schedule, venue rules and code of conduct.
- Report any behavioural, medical or safeguarding concerns immediately.
Accommodation
Where teens stay.
Groups are free to arrange their own accommodation anywhere they like, there's no requirement to stay in any particular place. For groups who'd prefer it sorted, Chosen has partnered with Novotel Melbourne Preston to offer every delegate, including teen groups, a discounted rate. Whichever option a group chooses, rooming and bookings are arranged by that group's Group Leader as part of the standard accommodation process.
If booking with Novotel
Novotel bookings are prepaid, and the cardholder must be present at check-in with photo ID (18+). For groups bringing teens, have the attending Group Leader book and pay with their own card, since they're the one who'll be checking the group in, not a parent staying home.
Curfews, room checks and night-time supervision are set by each group's Leader as part of their normal duty of care (see Group Leaders, above), rather than a single fixed lights-out time across every group.
Roles & responsibilities
Who else is responsible.

Ministries & Organisations
Fully responsible for the under-18s from their region: appointing a Group Leader, supporting registration, and running pre-conference safety planning with parents and leaders.

Parents & Guardians
Provide consent and medical/emergency information, plan travel and supervision arrangements with the Group Leader, and stay in contact with the Group Leader throughout.

Teen Participants
Follow the code of conduct agreed with their parents and Group Leader, stay with their group when entering or exiting the venue, and are responsible for their own conduct throughout the conference.

Jesus Youth Volunteers
Conduct risk assessments and support under-18 safety conference-wide: identification measures, a designated emergency assembly point, and monitoring at the main gates.
Safeguarding
Every teen, cared for.
Safeguarding under-18 participants is a shared responsibility across every group bringing teens to Chosen. At minimum, that means:
- Group Leaders hold a valid Working With Children Check (or state equivalent) and follow their organisation's safeguarding policy.
- Parent/guardian consent, emergency contacts, and medical/allergy information are collected before attendance is confirmed.
- Appropriate boundaries and supervision are maintained at all times: no one-on-one situations in private or isolated spaces.
- Any safeguarding concern is reported immediately to the group's safeguarding contact and the Chosen 2026 organising team.
